Six-year old Maxim rarely speaks and when he does it is about his mother and one-month old sister who remained in his hometown of Bryanka. Maxim is currently living in a refugee camp in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine.
As many as 580,000 children have been affected by the conflict in Ukraine and UNICEF has been delivering humanitarian and psychosocial support to help get them through this traumatic experience.
In order to help the children, UNICEF has provided the conflict affected population with medical equipment, hygiene products, drinking water and vaccines for immunisation. It has also established children-friendly spaces and is working to restore school education.
