Support foster care!
A childhood without love and family support leaves permanent consequences on a child’s development.
Life in a children’s home cannot replace a warm and caring family, no matter how much effort the staff put in.
Growing up in an institution is particularly harmful for children aged up to three, when brain development is most rapid and when it is crucial for children to form feelings and attachment towards at least one adult. Children who fall behind their peers in the first years of their life have a difficult time trying to catch up later.
"It is crucial to ensure that each child that cannot grow up in their biological family is placed in a warm and caring foster family, particularly children under 3 years of age, who need this sort of care as soon as possible."
Why foster care?
In cases where adoption is not possible, we advocate foster care – growing up in a warm foster family instead of in an institution. Foster care is temporary and lasts until the conditions are established for a permanent solution – the adoption of the child or its return to a safe biological family.
You too can help children who spend their childhood in institutions grow up in a warm foster family! Donate to equip foster families and to enable better care for the vulnerable boys and girls.
You can also make a donation via a payment slip or through internet banking to UNICEF’s account HR1723600001501092524, reference number 1824-98.
With thanks from the bottom of our heart!
