Mirna Medaković Stepinac – New UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador
At the opening of this year’s Museum of Reality on 1 December 2018, a new goodwill ambassador, actress Mirna Medaković Stepinac, joined UNICEF’s family in Croatia.
After having supported UNICEF’s activities for children for a number of years, Mirna Medaković Stepinac will now advocate children’s rights across the globe, in cooperation with UNICEF, in her official role as National Ambassador for Early Childhood Development. From supporting children in flooded areas to promoting reading at the earliest age, Mirna Medaković Stepinac’s efforts have helped spread the message of the importance of care for children.
“It is an exceptional honour and great responsibility to be a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. The responsibility is towards girls and boys whose voice is often not heard well enough. I will do my best to speak about the difficulties and challenges they encounter, because I firmly believe that every child deserves a fair chance. I also hope to be a voice for parents, too, because raising and taking care of children is not an easy job, but it is the most important one and parents have the right to receive support from the whole of society,” Mirna Medaković Stepinac said at the ceremony.
Only several minutes after the appointment, Mirna performed her first task as Goodwill Ambassador – to guide representatives of the media, institutions and foster care associations on an inaugural visit to the newly opened edition of UNICEF’s Museum of Reality in Zagreb’s Grič Tunnel, dedicated to the importance of the family.
